3 homemade sweet treats for your sweetheart

1. CHOCOLATE BLISS
This decadent chocolate dessert will surely find its way straight to your partner’s heart (and stomach)!

What you need:

  • 1 bar bittersweet chocolate
  • 2 tbsp. butter
  • 1½ tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1¾ cup milk
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • ¼ cup cocoa
  • 3 tbsp. cornstarch
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 3 egg yolks
  • ½ c. whipped cream (optional)
  • 2 tbsp Chocolate shavings (optional)

Recipe for love:

  • Combine chocolate, butter, and vanilla in a bowl, and set aside.
  • Heat milk in a saucepan, and bring to a simmer.
  • Whisk sugar, cocoa, cornstarch, and salt together in a bowl.
  • Beat the yolks in a bowl, using an electric mixer set on medium, for 1 minute.
  • Reduce the mixer speed to low, and add the sugar mixture.
  • Beat together until the mixture is soft and paste-like.
  • Add half the hot milk, and whisk until blended.
  • Transfer the cocoa mixture to the saucepan.
  • Cook over medium heat, while continuously whisking, until thickened — about 8 minutes.
  • Strain into the bowl of chocolate.
  • Let it sit for 3 minutes before stirring smooth with a wooden spoon.
  • Press a sheet of plastic wrap onto the surface of the pudding and chill for 2 hours before serving.

2. BROWNIE ROMANCE
Fall in love all over again over these gooey, delicious and easy-to-make brownies.

What you need:

  • 1/4cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4teaspoon salt
  • 1/4teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 3 bounces bittersweet chocolate, chopped
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg, plus 1 yolk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • Ice cream, for serving

Recipe for Love:

  • Heat oven to 180°C. Line anpan with aluminum foil, leaving some extra foil along the sides of the pan to aid in lifting out the brownies. Grease the foil with soft butter.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, baking soda, and cocoa. Set aside.
  • Place the chocolate pieces and butter in the top of a double boiler over barely simmering water. When the chocolate has just melted, remove from heat. Whisk in the sugar, eggs, and vanilla. Whisk in the reserved flour mixture until just combined.
  • Transfer mixture to the prepared pan. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until a skewer inserted into the center of the pan comes out with a few moist crumbs attached. Cool at least 20 minutes.
  • Transfer the brownies to a cutting board. Using a heart-shaped cookie cutter, cut out two heart shapes. Cover with plastic wrap until ready to assemble sundaes.
  • Place a brownie heart next to a scoop of ice cream. Serve.

3. I “HEART YOU” COOKIES
These irresistible cookies are a perfect way to end that special dinner date that you have planned!

What you need:

  • 250g butter, softened
  • 320g sieved plain flour
  • 125g sieved icing sugar
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Recipe for Love:

  • Preheat oven to 170° C.
  • Mix butter in a mixer until light, add remaining ingredients.
  • Knead until velvety. Roll one-half of the dough at a time to about 6mm thickness using the smallest amount of flour possible.
  • Cut out into little hearts using a cutter and bake on a lightly greased baking tray for 12 minutes.
  • Cookies should be almost white when cooked.
